This project is inspired by my relationship with nature in recent times. Under the current situation of the epidemic, I went to some remote forests. In nature without the factors of humans, I got a sense of unprecedented peace and relief.
I make an analog collage and edit it using the digital method to evoke objective thoughts. During the exploration, I made a deconstructed human face surrounded by various wild birds. The streamlined liquid figure is interspersed in the picture to symbolize the carrier of my thinking.
I think COVID-19 is not just a blip in the story of natural response. As climate change advances, extreme weather events that cause accidents to become more and more serious. From intensive agriculture, mining, and deforestation to the development of wildlife, the destructive human behaviors make people get closer contact with animals, which creates ideal conditions for the spillover of the disease. In the sense that Ebola, HIV, SARS, and MERS are caused by human’s dependence on nature, humans are taking higher risks of zoonotic diseases.
Humans can use their talents and technology to invest in natural capital and respect certain restrictions on interaction with the ecosystem. We cannot ignore the coronavirus as a warning to nature. Otherwise, as the world warms, we will experience more of this in the future.
